Beyonce's iconic Lemonade visual album is now available on Spotify and Apple Music - Daily Mail Posted: 23 Apr 2019 12:00 AM PDT Exactly three years after it debuted exclusively on Jay-Z's Tidal streaming service, Beyonce's iconic visual album Lemonade is now available on Spotify and Apple Music and all other primary streaming services. The 65-minute album, which coincided with a film of the same name, debuted on Tidal on April 23, 2016, with sources at the time saying the album would be a Tidal exclusive, 'in perpetuity.' The news was first reported by Variety last week, revealing Lemonade's wide release marks the first time that Beyonce's entire library is available for streaming. Lemonade: Beyonce's iconic album Lemonade is now available on Spotify and Apple Music three years after its exclusive debut on Jay-Z's Tidal streaming service While Lemonade being available exclusively on Tidal for the past three years fueled subscriptions to the streaming service, she still lost millions in streaming revenue from keeping it off of other services. Lemonade was the highest selling album of 2016, selling 2.5 million copies worldwide, and took home a number of awards as well. Lemonade won Grammys for Best Urban Contemporary Album and Best Music Video, along with a Peabody Award plus four Emmy nominations. Bey: While Lemonade being available exclusively on Tidal for the past three years fueled subscriptions to the streaming service, she still lost millions in streaming revenue from keeping it off of other services The new Lemonade release on other non-Tidal streaming services includes poetry written by Somali poet Warsan, which was featured in the Lemonade film. The film is divided into 11 chapters, Intuition, Denial, Anger, Apathy, Emptiness, Accountability, Reformation, Forgiveness, Resurrection, Hope, and Redemption. The album also features guest vocals from The Weeknd, Kendrick Lamar, Jack White and James Blake. Poem: The new Lemonade release on other non-Tidal streaming services includes poetry written by Somali poet Warsan, which was featured in the Lemonade film On Beyonce and Jay-Z's (as The Carters) 2018 album Everything Is Love, Beyonce even acknowledged that she 'didn't care' about streaming numbers, in Nice. 'If I gave two f**ks about streaming numbers/Would have put Lemonade up on Spotify,' Beyonce sang in the Nice track. The wide release of Lemonade comes just a week after her new Netflix documentary Homecoming was released. Homecoming: The wide release of Lemonade comes just a week after her new Netflix documentary Homecoming was released The film, which chronicles her now-iconic 2018 Coachella performance, was part of a three-project deal with Netflix worth a whopping $60 million. Beyoncé's Movie Roles, Ranked - Complex Posted: 13 May 2018 12:00 AM PDT Beyoncé is a tour de force. At 36 years old and with 20 years in the music industry under her belt, Bey is at her peak but still climbing. She proved it at Coachella—aka Beychella—and will likely top that performance in the future. But while she's widely recognized for her genius musical creations, including her mastery of the art of visual albums with her self-titled album and Lemonade, her films don't get quite as much love. Back in 2013, she gave us a glimpse into her "real" life with her documentary, Life is But a Dream. It's not a "movie role," technically, but it did land a nomination for the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Documentary, and it left us aching for more film content from the queen. Beyoncé's filmography is short but sweet, with a wide variety of roles ranging from voice work in animated movies to glamorous pop star in a big-budget film. And lest we forget when she starred opposite Idris Elba in the beautiful thriller Obsessed, or when she joked around with Verne Troyer's Mini-Me (rest in peace) in Austin Powers in Goldmember. Of course, Queen Bey isn't the only one to achieve this feat. There's a long list of divas who have dabbled in the acting business, including Whitney Houston, Madonna, Rihanna, Jennifer Lopez, Aaliyah, Queen Latifah, Barbra Streisand, and Cher. And we can't forget Jennifer Hudson, who introduced her powerful vocals on American Idol before winning an Oscar for her role in Dreamgirls, in which she starred alongside Bey. As we wait in anticipation for Beyoncé to embody the voice of Nala in Disney's live-action adaptation of The Lion King next year, we're looking back at her body of work in film thus far. Here are Beyoncé's movie roles, ranked. |
Beyonce offers intimate look at her life backstage at Coachella 2018 - Daily Mail Posted: 08 Apr 2019 12:00 AM PDT Beyonce is preparing to lift the lid on her glamorous - but very private - personal life in a new documentary about her widely-praised performance at Coachella in 2018. In a dramatic new trailer for the film, Homecoming: A Film By Beyonce, the 37-year-old mother-of-three is captured in an incredibly intimate capacity, with clips showing the singer spending time with her children, laughing with husband Jay-Z, working out, and preparing for the groundbreaking performance. The short flashes of Beyonce's personal life are cut with behind-the-scenes footage from the Coachella performance, as well as videos of the hoards of screaming fans - while audio from an interview with late poet and civil rights activist Maya Angelou is heard playing. Opening up: Beyonce is offering a rare glimpse into the most intimate parts of her life in a new trailer for a Netflix documentary all about her Coachella 2018 performance The little ones: In a trailer for the new film, the star is seen showing affection to her 22-month-old twins Rumi and Sir, who have not been seen much since their birth Big time: As well as on-stage videos and clips of the crowd, the new trailer also includes some much more private videos of herself and her family members Far from serving simply as a poignant soundtrack for the clip however, the words spoken by Maya give an interesting insight into the intended purpose of the film - and perhaps even Beyonce's hopes for how the world views her and her performance. 'What I really want to do is be a representative of my race, of the human race,' Maya is heard saying - while clips of Beyonce and her family flash up, interspersed with footage of the singer preparing for her Coachella performance. 'I have a chance to show how kind we can be, how intelligent and generous we can be. I have a chance to teach, and to love, and to laugh. 'I know that when I finish doing what I'm sent here to do, I will be called home. And I will go home without any fear, trepidations, wondering what's gonna happen.' While Maya's words are playing, flashes of footage from some of the more intimate areas of Beyonce's life flash up on screen, with the singer seen laying down and laughing while talking to her husband, Jay-Z, as well as cradling her 22-month-old twins, Rumi and Sir, who have been largely kept away from the spotlight since their birth in June 2017. Seven-year-old Blue Ivy also features in the behind-the-scenes clips, with one particularly sweet video showing her joining her mother and the back-up dancers to learn their routine; with her mother and the professionals in the background, Blue is seen sitting on a chair and whipping her long hair around her face - just like Beyonce and the dancers. The footage also captures the rigorous preparation process for the music festival performance, which featured an appearance by Jay-Z, as well as an on-stage reunion with Beyonce's Destiny's Child bandmates, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams. Her mini me: During one rehearsal shot, Beyonce and Jay-Z's seven-year-old daughter Blue Ivy is seen joining the dancers and whipping her hair around to the beat of the music Showing mom how it's done! While Blue Ivy is in the foreground of the clip, Beyonce is seen in the background dancing with her back-up team Her man: The singer's rapper husband Jay-Z is also seen in the Netflix clip, much of which features audio from an interview with late poet and activist Maya Angelou Beyonce is seen dancing, working out, and even conducting a large group of instrument-wielding musicians. Throughout the behind-the-scenes footage, the singer looks laidback, relaxed, and very casual - a world away from the bright lights and glamour of the stage. As Maya's words draw to a close however, the narrative is flipped; the poet's audio finishes with her answering a question posed by the interviewer, who asks: 'What advice would you have to give this generation?' 'Tell the truth... to yourself first, and to the children,' Maya responds, before the clip cuts quickly to much more glitzy, dynamic footage of Beyonce performing - set to a very loud and dramatic soundtrack of beating drums and chanting. According to Oprah's O Magazine, the interview used in the clip took place back in 2013 for Canadian TV show George Stroumboulopoulos Tonight - and it is thought to be one of the final sit-down interviews that Maya did before her death in May 2014. In the interview, she discusses all manner of topics, but she focuses on her hopes for the future of society, honing in on civil rights, gender equality, human rights, and politics. Beyonce's choice to feature Maya's thought-provoking words in her trailer calls attention to the key topics that she no doubt hopes to highlight in the feature-length film, something that is also highlighted in the movie description that accompanied the trailer. 'Homecoming presents an intimate look at Beyonce's historic 2018 Coachella performance that paid homage to America's historically black colleges and universities,' the video caption read. Happy: At one point, a makeup-free Beyonce is seen laughing alongside someone who looks like her husband Jay-Z Work it out! The singer wears her own Ivy Park range as she works out in the gym while preparing for her performance Word got out: An US Weekly report from last week revealed that Beyonce is working with Netflix on a documentary that, 'will be tied to her Coachella 2018 performance' New tunes: The US Weekly report also revealed that Bey is working on new music, though it won't be a full album 'Interspersed with candid footage and interviews detailing the preparation and powerful intent behind her vision, Homecoming traces the emotional road from creative concept to cultural movement.' The trailer certainly suggests that Beyonce's documentary will tackle more than the singer's Coachella preparation and on-stage performance; the singer actually made history at Coachella last year as the first African American woman to headline the festival, and her entire set paid tribute to traditionally-black colleges and universities, and their students. In both the behind-the-scenes clips, and the performance footage, aspects of this tribute are captured - from the New Orleans-style brass band that accompanied her opening song, Crazy In Love, to the collegiate style ensembles worn by those on-stage. During the performance, Beyonce and her back-up dancers and musicians wore yellow hoodies with the Greek letters Beta Delta Kappa - BAK - as a nod to the Divine Nine, the five African American fraternities and four sororities. The singer also used audio of a speech made by minister and human rights activist Malcolm X in between songs. Even the date of the documentary's debut bears significance; the movie is set to debut on April 17 - which is almost exactly a year on from her two Coachella performances, which took place on April 14 and April 21. An US Weekly report from last week revealed that Beyonce has been working with Netflix on a documentary that, 'will be tied to her Coachella 2018 performance.' The report also revealed that Bey is working on new music, though it won't be a full album. Instead, the singer is working on a 'couple of new tracks [for] a deluxe album filled with old songs.' Netflix explained: 'Homecoming presents an intimate look at Beyonce's 2018 Coachella performance that paid homage to America's historically black colleges and universities' Still Crazy In Love after all these years: They are also seen on stage together With her girls: Bey with her Destiny's Child band mates; the docu arrives April 17 These tracks will be the first new songs she's released since her surprise 2016 album Lemonade, but she also released a joint album with husband Jay-Z, Everything Is Love, in 2018, ahead of their co-headlining tour. The release of Lemonade in 2016 made Beyonce the only female solo artist in history to debut at the #1 spot with her first six studio albums. She has sold over 100 million albums worldwide as a solo artist, plus another 60 million records as a member of Destiny's Child, making her one of the best selling music artists of all time. The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) certified Beyonce as the best-selling artist of the 2000s, along with her 23 Grammy Awards. Beyonce also recently announced a collaboration with Adidas for a new line of signatures sneakers and clothing dubbed Ivy Park. 'This is the partnership of a lifetime for me,' Beyonce said in a statement. 'We share a philosophy that puts creativity, growth and social responsibility at the forefront of business.' 'I look forward to re-launching and expanding Ivy Park on a truly global scale with a proven, dynamic leader,' she concluded. |

And Beyonce proved the point as she was bothered that her mom Tina Knowles kept referring to her real hair as 'au natural' in an Instagram post on Wednesday. Getting on her nerves! Being really annoying.' Meanwhile, the Lemonade singer's dad Mathew Knowles believes that his daughter's career benefited from skin tone bias while Kelly Rowland's suffered. Getting on her nerves! Being really annoying' Knowles explained: 'In the music industry there's still segregation. 'Programmers, especially at pop radio, have this imagery of what beauty looks like... If you look back even at Whitney Houston, if you look at those photos, how they lightened her to make her look lighter-complexioned.' 'Because there's a perception and a colorism: the lighter that you are, the smarter and more economically (advantaged)… There's a perception all around the world about color — even with black folks, there's a perception.' Thoughts: Beyonce's dad Mathew Knowles believes that his daughter's career benefited from skin tone bias while Kelly Rowland's suffered, as they are pictured together in September 2005 Vision: The 67-year-old record executive appeared on Tuesday's episode SiriusXM's The Clay Cane Show where he talked about 'colorism' in the music industry The study found that artists who benefited included Rihanna, Alicia Keys, Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj, and of course Beyonce. He was asked by the host if prejudice toward lighter tones had impact on the Queen Bey's career to which Knowles honestly responded: 'I think she would have had — I think it would've affected her success. 'And I use Kelly Rowland as an example. She's a great example. But you know, the great thing is, Kelly did exceptional outside of America, especially in Australia. Kelly sold over 4 million records. She just got off-script.' Support system: Of Rowland Matthew said 'Kelly did exceptional outside of America, especially in Australia' In addition to being Beyonce's father, Mathew is the former manager of their group Destiny's Child as her revealed back in April that a musical centered around the girl group is in the works. Survivor: The Destiny's Child Musical's will debut in the star's hometown Houston, Texas sometime next year, according to TMZ. Beyond that, Knowles says there are also plans for shows on Broadway, London's West End as well as a world tour. Knowles, who is producing the project, says the musical is going to be an unvarnished look at the pop group's journey to the top. Theatrical: Beyonce's father is producing a musical based on her group Destiny's Child. Above the pair are seen in 2002 The production will be from Knowles' perspective, also documenting his involvement in the music industry. Songs will be pulled from the Destiny's Child catalog. 'I want to pull back the curtain,' said Knowles. 'I feel it's time to give the world an opportunity to hear, see and feel the victories and failures that I've had as a husband, father and manager who risked everything in pursuit of fulfilling dreams – those of mine and others.' Taking the stage: Survivor: The Destiny's Child Musical's will debut in the star's hometown Houston, Texas sometime next year The former talent manager is collaborating with director Je'Caryous Johnson on the show. 'I am ecstatic to be working with Mr. Knowles on the development of [the musical]' said Johnson. 'It is a unique and inspiring story that will fearlessly tackle hard truths, while bringing both vindication and healing to all who lived it. It's fair, it's real and it's an absolute honor to know that Mr. Knowles trusts me to pen and produce such an iconic piece of American history.' An inside look: The production will be from Mr. Knowles' perspective Formed in 1990, Destiny's Child was one of the more successful girl groups of the 2000s. The group's core members included Beyonce, Kelly Rowland, and Michelle Williams. Former members include LeToya Luckett, LaTavia Roberson and Farrah Franklin. After five albums, three Grammys and more than a few lineup changes the band stopped touring in 2006. No word on if Beyonce has given the project the green light. The Lemonade songstress and her father have had a rocky relationship. Bey approved? No word on if Beyonce has given the project the green light Mathew's habitual infidelity lead the singer's mom, fashion designer Tina Knowles (now Lawson), to divorce him in 2011, straining his relationship with his daughters. After years of professional ups and downs, Beyoncé announced that she was officially severing professional ties to her father in 2011. And while her hit Lemonade is largely said to be inspired by husband Jay-Z's cheating, insiders also revealed that parts were inspired by her father's relationship with mother Tina.
