Hello My Lovelies,
I hope you are all doing well and are having a fabulous weekend so far. I love subscription boxes and I thought today would be the perfect day to take a peek inside May's Glossybox. We're all guilty of buying that wear-once statement piece over the more sensible staples. This May, Glossybox wanted to remind use that sometimes it's all about the basics that underpin any good wardrobe, or in this case the same applies to our cosmetics and skincare. The May 'Back to Basics' box includes five simple but super must-haves for your beauty bag.
Dr.PAWPAW Original Balm | Full Size | £6.95
The first item I was excited to see in this months Glossybox was the Dr.PAWPAW Original Balm and I cannot tell you how long I have wanted to try this product for. This is a multi-purpose balm that can be used on your lips, skin, cuticles and even to tame fly away hairs and unruly brows. The combination of Aloe Vera, Olive Oil and of course, pawpaw, nourishes and soothes the skin. What's more, it's fragrance and crulety-free and completely vegan-friendly, making it perfect for everyone. This is the ultimate handbag hero product!
Scrub Love Active Charcoal Body Scrub | Deluxe Sample| £13.95
Scrub Love is a brand that I had never heard before but I think they are going to become a new favourite of mine. This charcoal-based body exfoliator - charcoal is one of the most ancient detoxing ingredients - absorbs the day-to-day pollutants and impurities that sit on skin. It's 100% natal, vegan and vegetarian friendly, as well as being free from pesky plastic micro-beads that are known to pollute. I am a regular fake tan wearer so I am excited to put this bad boy to the test!
Caudalie Vinosource Moisturising Sorbet | Deluxe Sample | £23.00
Caudalie is a brand I know quite well and I was so thrilled to see them featured in the box. Everyone's skin goes through periods of sensitivity. This lightweight gel/cream is rich in powerful anti-oxidants and patented polyphenols to help calm reactive skin and restore its water reserves to make it more resilient. For calmer skin Caudalie recommend applying in the morning and evening to a fresh and clean face and neck.
Ruby Powder Blush in Coral | Full Size | £14.99
If there was one product in the box that I had to say I liked the least it would be this product. The brand is completely new to me so I'm going to give it another try but honestly the formula and shade did not blow me away. Also, the size of the blush for the prize point really shocked me! It looks more like an eyeshadow pan than a blush. When I think of 'back to basic' products I wouldn't choose a powder blush as one of my top five products, instead of a blush I would have included a bronzer or potentially even a highlighter. What do you think?
Girl Meet Brush Eyeshadow Blending Brush | Full Size | £7.95
What makeup bag would be complete without some kind of beauty tool? For £7.95 I was really impressed with the quality of this brush - with it's domed soft bristles this is perfect for softening and blending out your eyeshadow or even applying contour to your nose. The brush itself is really lightweight but not too much so it makes you question the quality.
Overall, I was really impressed with this months Glossybox and if I had to choose one product I was most excited about it would probably be the Dr.PAWPAW Original Balm. It was great to see that there was a good variety of products for your body, skincare routine, a multipurpose balm, a beauty tool and a blush in this box and aside from the fact that I think the blush should be substituted for a bronzer this is a great 'back to basics' box which would be perfect for any makeup newbie. Also, for £10 (+ P&P) you are definitely getting a great deal, especially when the total cost of the box comes in over £30. If you would like to compare what was in the May 2015 Glossybox you can see my review here. Not sure why I don't have a 2016 but I hope you enjoy my previous review.
Like always lovelies, if you have any questions, requests or if you would like to chat please feel free to contact me on my social media, email or leave me a comment below. I love hearing from you all and I make sure to read every single comment...they truly make my day!
Lots of love
